Springs of Africa Micro-Finance Faith Fund (SAMf3) is a poverty alleviation program. The main aim of this program is to reduce economic poverty among the poor in Africa. Its rationale is based on the poor economic performance by many African countries; hence many people cannot afford basic human needs such as food, clothing, shelter and education. Relatively small amounts (average US $100-300) produce amazing results when sown into small business ventures!
"I have been so impressed with this program and have seen lives changed dramatically. In many cases, once the initial business has become successful, people use the profits to create a second business. In nearly every case, people have been able to cover identified expenses such as school fees, school uniforms, family food and needs, and care for orphans and widows." Hesbone Odindo
How it works: In a nutshell, once loans are given, recipients have a set amount of time with which to pay back the loan with interest. Applicants hold each other accountable. Loans may be used in a number of ways such as purchasing goods, renting land, establishing a storefront or in specialized training that will increase business and profits. Once the loans are repaid, they are then distributed to a new applicant, thus serving as a revolving fund from which many can benefit.
