Youth Share Reasons for "Worth the Wait"
Youth from Kilimani DCF traveled to the village of Kadawa in western Kenya to participate in a Youth Rally. During this time, they shared the importance of abstinence. Personal testimonies were shared how these young people have pledged to wait until marriage to engage in sexual relations. This frank and honest discussion is so very important to Kadawa, where teenage pregnancy and HIV is rampant. Projections show that unless change occurs, infant mortality from HIV will be nearly 100% within the next ten years! The young people were able to travel to Kadawa because of giving through Springs of Africa. THANK YOU!
Medical Team Serves and Donates Supplies
Dr. Scott Jackson headed up a medical team of 10 people who served for one week in Garissa. Four medical clinics were conducted and over 700 people received medical attention, despite the 113 degree heat. Suitcases of medical supplies were taken along with the team, with “leftovers” being left at the medical clinic in Garissa for future medical care. Team member Cindy Zimmerman shared, “because of the people being displaced from their homes (due to flooding), they have been exposed to the elements, living sometimes without shelter as well as exposure to Rift Valley Fever. The health of the people has been greatly affected.”
Churches Offering Quality Christian Education
The two DOVE churches in Nairobi's Kibera slums continue to offer children at risk with a quality Christian-based education. Their desire is to increase opportunities for more students to attend, as funds become available.
Desert Streams School is providing education for over 60 students. Electricity has been added to the property, which makes a big difference in their daily operations.
Joyspring Educational Centre has nearly 400 students. Both of these schools provide breakfast and lunch for students – many times the only meals the children have in any given day. Both schools also offer scholarships to the neediest students, through your financial support.
